Greetings from the topics of South Florida. Training cats is a difficult thing to do. They have different temperaments, and don't take well to orders. However I believe you could, just be patient and make sure the reward you give them they love. The bond of love can help you achieve anything. Best of Luck.
References :
Life Experience

There are several ways but target training or clicker training is the 2 most common ways of training a cat. I found a nice article on this website http://www.care-of-cats.com about training a cat. I hope this helps.

I trained a cat once to sit up on command. I just held a treat in front of his nose and slowly raised it up in the air while saying "up". I think cats have pretty short attention spans, so small doses at a time are needed for best results.

cats are not easy to train.
~first you should give your cat a name and teach her to respond on it-this can be done by calling her by the name when you give her food or talk to her or play with her.
~cats are instinctively good at catching a prey(a bird or a rat)...so that type of training can be given to her.
~cats can also learn to shake hands-all u have to do is say,hi "your cats name",and then hold her paw gently and shake it a little...its a slow process but she will learn.
~different breeds of cat have different learning abilities.
~also, never forget to reward her when she gets a thing right!!
References :
I trained my two cats to come to me by rewarding them with thinly sliced turkey, all the cat treats I tried they wouldn't eat. Only reward when yer cat comes to you. I also trained one of my cats to jump in my arms. It takes a while, be patient.
References :
Cats are difficult to train. You can train them to be used to being on a leash and come on command but I doubt you can teach a cat any other tricks.
The thing about cats is that they won't do anything they don't want to do, unlike dogs, who are willing to impress their "masters."
Start training the cat when they are young.
You could try treats as a reward, and that could get your cat to come on command. Try shaking a bit of hard food in a bowl while calling their name. Eventually they will come to just you calling them. It's good to keep up with the treats, but don't over do it.
Stick with it, and I hope it works.
References :
Life long cat owner.

Look into clicker training. Shaping behavior and incrementally rewarding what you're looking for. Cats are so smart but they seldom do what we ask. I was trying to train a dog to roll over. The cat would immediately get it and do it when I asked the dog, but would not do it when asked directly.
Clicker training using chicken or desirable treats as a reward for each step would end up with a cat wanting to give you what you are asking for! My cats train me too easily I do tricks for them.
Look at Karen Pryor for behavior based training techniques.
