he’s trying to tell you something, your job is to figure out what! if it’s right outside the box, chances are it’s something about the box. how old is he? older cats have a hard time getting in and out, try getting a lower box. have you changed brands of litter? when was the box cleaned? it’s also possible that he’s got a medical problem and just can’t get there in time.
