I want to get a cat. Any tips for taking care of it?

male cat vs. female cat?
also how do you potty train it? and are there any tips for adopting from a shelter?

sorry i’m kind of clueless about this.
by the way it’s going to be an indoor cat because i don’t have a backyard

Well it really depends on if you want a male or female cat there really is no difference in the male and female cats it their breed that matters like if you want a non shedding cat or hypo allergic cat some breeds shed and some breeds don’t. Or some don’t like to cuddle and others don’t. For example a rag doll is a type of cat that you can hug play with put in little baskets and carry them around in (when they are small). Its not very hard to potty train a cat a good way to potty train them is every time you feed it let it play for a little (3min) then take it to the litter box and do this repeatedly until the kitten learns that’s its spot to go to the bathroom. A good way to find the right cat for you is look for a kitten that you find cute and play with it a little and see if it likes you and if not go to another kitten that you find cute and do this until you found the right kitten. More tips are take it to the vet about around the time you got the kitten ( like a week later) to give it its shots and all that stuff. Choose to make you cat an indoor cat or and outside cat (that’s when the cat goes outside and does its business and comes back). Let me tell you that its hard to keep your cat an all time indoor cat. But if you have a fenced in back yard you will be fine if they cant climb through it of jump over it. If not then you can buy a cat harness and take them out side until they know their way them selves. If you have a deck you can block off part of the deck off and then farther down so they get used to it and then you can just let them go cats are very smart and will usually find their way home.Just in case you should get your cat a collar with its name on it and all your info. on it. Make sure to give your cat flea and tick collars or a gel and kills fleas and ticks. Don’t forget to give your cat a shower at home or to take it to the pet groomer so they can wash your cat (taking it to the pet groomer is usually easier ) Cats might scratch your carpet of couches if so you can get them a scratch post so they scratch that and also get them a bed.And when they eat play with their ears and tail and pet them so when they get older and say a little kid comes and plays with your cat and the cat gets angry and scratches the little girl but if you do play with them when they eat that wont happen. I hope this helped you i have a cat and i was clueless to when i first got her oh yeah almost forgot if you do get a cat make sure its a kitten they are easier to train and to adapt to new homes. So… I hope this helped you and have fun getting your kitten. :)
