I have an 8 month old pure bred Bangle cat. The problem is she will not stop peeing on one spot on the dinning room rug. I have tried every punishment I have read about and it does no good. Any suggestions on how to get her to stop short of KILLING her. I am ready to glue her business end shut.
HELP!!
I have also tried a new rug in the dinning room and she still goes to the same spot. It is beginning to ruin the hardwood floor under the rug.
All right, she is returning to the same spot because there is still a scent present. Vinegar is often a very effective treatment, and perhaps cover the area with a puppy training pad. Hopefully, that is not in a high traffic area. I have posted a link to using vinegar.
The second issue is why she does it. Cats are normally very fastidious, so when they go out of the box it could be a health issue. A UTI (urinary tract infection) will cause her to go out of the litter box, as it becomes painful to urinate in the box, so she will avoid the box. I have posted a link (second link) to common non-medical reason cats stop using the litter box.
Put her food where she pees….It worked for my bobcat. They will not urinate where their food is.

Gluing her business end shut absolutely cracked me up
You didn’t say if this was a second cat who might smell the other cat and want to mark it’s territory. If I were you, I would put him in a room with a litter box and praise her profusely when she uses it. Make sure you take her to the vet to see if she has a urinary tract infection. Good luck. Have a great week

Ha ha ha ha.. don’t blame you going so upset…
look, it happened to me. I am still struggling it…
he keeps peeing at the entrance door where we have a rough rag as you say! What i have done, i have a bottle spray where i have put water. It is near to that section of the house the bottle. Everytime he’s going there, i am ready to keep an eye, and i am spraying him with little water. It’s so funny that everytime he goes on the carpet there, he sees the bottle, he is scared… so i am trying to train him… let’s see how long it will take, but i know that he’s not doing as often as the first 3 times he messed up my carpet!!! ahh!!!! good luck! but don’t shout at him or hurt him, he will do it more… naughty cats!

training a cat takes a lot of time and patiences
get ‘peegone’ and saturate the spot & let dry (dont vacuum it up) and it will rid of the smell.. This should help you get her to stop peeing there afterwards but as long as the smell is still there she will continue to do so more than likely..
Only other thing I can suggest is to constantly tell her no & pick her up and move her whenever you see her near the spot.. She’ll associate the spot with you not wanting her to go there soon enough.. someone mentioned putting her food bowl there, you can do that too until you get the smell out of the rug..
Good luck.. cats are hard to train but it is possible
EDITED/added:
smell is in the hardwood floor why she still goes there even though you changed the rug.. peegone soaks into the wood and breaks up the enzymes/etc..

Try locking the cat with the litter box in the bathroom for a week and this should help teach it to use the litter box.

Your cat is young and still learning. So have patience with her.
What are you currently treating the rug with to get rid of the smell? It is possible that the smell of cat urine is still lingering. Even though you do not smell it your cat may.
Do you clean the floor as well? If not, you need to.
What has always worked for me to eliminate the smell of cat urine has been 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water. Treat a corner of the rug first to make sure it is color fast. Spray the floor with the mixture and let it sit for a minute before you wipe it up. Vinegar neutralizes the amonia smell cat urine gives off. You will have the smell of vinegar for a little bit but better then cat urine.
Also, once you have treated the rug – you may want to keep it rolled up and in a corner somewhere until you have your kitty spayed. Once you get her spayed and she seems to be using nothing but the litterbox then go ahead and put the rug back down.
