I have a kitten wo is about 5 monthes and willl not ise the littler box any suggestions
The second answerer has it right.
I want to add that if the cat isn’t sick, and the litter box isn’t a problem, it is possible to get the cat to go in the box.
First, put the box where the cat is going. Smack dab on top of where the messes appear. Put some of the droppings (yeah, gross, I know!) into the box. Get a few boxes and put them in different rooms. Sometimes, cats don’t see any reason walk their lazy butts to a box in another room. Bring her to each one so she knows where they are.
Next, put the cat into the box after it eats and wakes up from a nap. Cats thrive on scheduling, so pencil her in every day at the same times. Morning, afternoon and night at first. Praise her in the box, even if she doesn’t go and jumps out immediately. She should associate the boxes with happy things.
Clean the smells with one of the specialized products at pet stores. Nature’s Miracle, Urine-off and Urine Gone are wonderful. Also, Quick and Bright, and Simple Green. Cover the areas with aluminium foil. Cat’s don’t like to walk on it and will avoid the areas. It’s just temporary, so don’t freak out.
A word about litter. Some cats object to strong smells. If the one you use has a strong perfume, switch brands. Consider one of the more natural fiber litters. There is one made of wheat, and another made of newspapers. Picky cats like these, so it might be worth trying.
HINT: Cats don’t care for anything that is not their own idea, so be patient and consistent and she should come around.
