I’ve tried the whole vinager and baking soda thing, but it seems to only work for a little time. The longest time it lasted was only about 3 days. I’ve also tried some products made for it, but it still doesn’t work. Any suggestions to have it gone for sure. It really doesn’t matter to me right now, because we are moving out in August. But we are going to move to a house. So any tips on training my cat so he doesn’t pee in the house anymore?
Cat urine contains high concentrations of ammonia, which makes it have such a bad odor. Wash the area with carbonated water or soapy water. Use a mixture of 20% white vinegar and 80% water in a spray bottle. Spray over the problem area, gently working into the surface of the carpet with a disposable brush of some sort, then remove the excess moisture with paper towels. Try using the product DeScent. Sprinkle this naturally occurring crystalline mineral powder onto the affected area and the remaining smell will quickly vanish. When the area is completely dry, vacuum and reapply a small amount of the DeScent crystalline powder. Cats find mouthwash distasteful, so try applying a light misting of mouthwash to the affected area. A citrus-based cleaning product may also be helpful, for cats hate citrus smells. Here are some possible reasons as to why your cat is having litter box mishaps:
1.Your cat may not like the litter that you give him/her. They are repelled by the scent of strongly perfumed varieties and may refuse to use them.
2. You may have a poorly positioned litter box. Cats do not like to use litter boxes that are in a noisy, high-traffic area.
Make sure to clean the litter box often. Litter should be scooped daily.
