i’ve never had a kitten before so i was wondering how easy or hard it is too litter train a cat?
Extremely easy! I live in a multi-cat household and have never had a problem with kittens or cats using a litterbox unless:
1. The litterbox is dirty — cats will often refuse to use dirty litterboxes and pee in other places to get the point across.
2. The litterbox is too high — for kittens (or older cats with arthritis or other medical condition) you have to make sure the sides are not too high to climb into.
3. There are not enough litterboxes and/or the box(es) are in locations that are hard for the kittens to get to.
When I have taken in kittens, all I had to do was show them the litterbox, put them inside the box once, and from then on they used the box.
Note: If your kitten/cat suddenly stops using the litterbox you should take him to the vet. There could be a medical problem like a urinary tract infection.
