Well, my sister taught our cat to sit on cue, by holding a treat above him and tapping his lower back until he sat down, then giving him the treat.
Chances are it will take longer than a day because cats, by nature, are more concerned about pleasing themselves than others.
It also helps, if you do this trick, if you associate a hand motion, like holding out your hand with the palm facing the ceiling when you hold the treat.
